According to WAFF news, the chair of the Democrat State Party has made a claim that the list of delegates, which was voted on in March, was hand-picked by the Biden-Harris administration and not by the state party.
According to Randy Kelley, the Democratic State Chair of Alabama, this not only decreases the number of black delegates, but it also reduces the representation of younger delegates.
In March, the individuals who were selected by the Biden administration had their names on the ballots and were subjected to voting.
Kelley revealed that the party had provided a list of 52 individuals that they believed should represent the state as delegates. However, the Biden-Harris campaign only chose 17 out of those recommended by the party.
Kelley states that although administrations have the authority to strike delegates, it has never been executed to this extent before.
According to Kelley, the actions taken resulted in a decrease in both black and young democratic representation. He went on to note that even George Wallace, known for his racism, would have faced major media coverage if he had engaged in similar shenanigans.
