Authorities report that a man from Mississippi has been sentenced for his involvement in drug distribution

According to the United States Department of Justice, a man from Mississippi has been sentenced for conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute and may face imprisonment. This news was reported by WKRG.

According to court records, Morris Alan Morgan, aged 39, received a prison sentence from United States District Court Judge Terry F. Moorer on June 18. Morgan had pleaded guilty to charges of smuggling cocaine shipments to Darrin J. Southhall, who was identified by officials as a notorious and prolific drug distributor operating in Mobile, Alabama since 2016.

According to reports, Southhall had already admitted to operating a criminal enterprise, possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute, and conspiring to launder drug money. He had allegedly enlisted Morgan’s services to transport both drugs and drug money in concealed compartments of different vehicles between Mobile and Houston.

According to official documents, it was revealed that Morgan took ownership of smuggling 30 kilograms of cocaine in shipments for Southall earlier this year.

Officials have stated that Morgan is now looking at a 60-month prison sentence, as well as a five-year term of supervised release and $100 in special mandatory assessments.

He will also undergo substance abuse testing and treatment, as well as searches of his person and premises.
