The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is introducing a new initiative that focuses on providing assistance to families of inmates at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
When an individual gets incarcerated, it doesn’t just affect them but their families as well. From providing basic necessities like food to taking care of children and transportation, everything can be impacted.
Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham stated that many times, the individual who is incarcerated is the breadwinner of their family.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is committed to supporting the families of inmates. To achieve this, it has established the Montgomery County Detention Facility Family Support Unit, which aims to connect these families with essential resources. The program has received tremendous support from community agencies and organizations, showing the significance of this initiative.
According to him, implementing this approach not only benefits the families of inmates, but also helps to reduce problems within the jail.
Cunningham remarked that simply being a source of inspiration and hope for individuals and their loved ones can send a powerful message.
Getting connected to the program is an easy process. You can either call 334-832-1200 or send an email to [email protected].
According to Sheriff Cunningham, the family support program is a great addition to the already existing IGNITE program which was launched in April.
