After admitting to distributing fentanyl, a man from Georgia has been sentenced to prison.
In a court hearing, Ricky Rich, a 42-year-old resident of East Dublin, admitted to distributing fentanyl and was subsequently sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Upon completion of his prison term, he will be subject to three years of supervised release and a $2,500 fine.
According to U.S. Attorney Jill E. Steinberg, Ricky Rich has a lengthy record of dealing illicit drugs in the central Georgia region. Steinberg added that the significant jail term handed to him would ensure that he is held responsible for his actions while safeguarding the community from his unlawful conduct.
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, were able to pinpoint Rich as a drug dealer through their investigation.
During the investigation, it was discovered that significant quantities of drugs, including fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, were present not only at the suspect’s home but also at the residence of a family member.
At the time of his arrest, he was under parole for drug trafficking charges in Georgia.
As per the plea agreement, Rich had to give up 19 guns and ammunition that he illegally possessed at his home, which were later seized during the searches.
