Early morning crash sends MARTA officer and driver to hospital

Early Tuesday morning, a car collided with a MARTA police officer, resulting in injuries to the officer.

According to MARTA, a police officer responded to a call for backup at Garnett Station in downtown Atlanta at approximately 12:45 a.m., as reported by Channel 2 Action News.

While passing through the intersection of Lee Street and Whitehall Street, the backup officer collided with another car.

The officer and driver sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and were both taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The identity of both the officer and the victim remains undisclosed.

Atlanta police have been contacted by Channel 2 Action News to provide further details.
