In Wisconsin, a suspected illegal immigrant has been accused of stabbing three individuals, including two children.
Last week, authorities in Wisconsin apprehended a man suspected of stabbing three individuals, including two children who tragically lost their lives due to their injuries.
The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department has apprehended Victor Gomez Acosta for reportedly stabbing two children and a woman. The agency reported that he subsequently used the knife on himself.
After a hospital stay, Acosta was discovered inside a home by officers and subsequently taken into custody at the Clark County Jail. The agency also reported that the woman sought medical attention for her injuries at a hospital.
According to Just the News, Acosta was illegally residing in the United States during the time of the incident.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department, along with Abbotsford police, arrived at the scene and had cautioned residents about the crime in the vicinity earlier. In fact, just two days before the stabbing, the department had issued a Facebook post informing people about multiple burglaries that had occurred in the area.
Clark County has recorded four killings from 2018 to 2022, which is the most recent available data. Governor Tony Evers has taken measures to address community safety issues and show support to the victims of crime by signing bills in March.
“Our focus is on tackling the issue of violence, preventing crimes, and ensuring the safety of our schools, streets, and communities throughout Wisconsin,” stated the governor.
“We have made historic increases in shared revenue for local communities during this legislative session. This will provide better support for local public safety,” he said. “We have also passed bipartisan laws to combat reckless driving statewide. In addition, we have strengthened our efforts to support crime victims and survivors. All of these actions will complement the work my administration has been doing to prevent violence and crime and make our communities safer.”
According to NBC News, former President Donald Trump claimed that Milwaukee, situated southeast of Abbotsford, has crime problems, which has been criticized by Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis. Trump labeled Milwaukee as a “horrible city” during a meeting with House Republicans.
During an interview with MSNBC, Rep. Moore expressed her concerns about the impending arrival of an individual in Milwaukee who has been charged with 34 felony counts. She noted that this individual’s presence is likely to have a negative impact on the city’s crime rate.
