From September 14, Times Square at 300 West 43rd Street will be home to “Horrorwood Studios,” a spine-tingling destination for immersive experiences this Halloween season. With over two decades of experience as Six Flags’ Fright Fest heads, artistic directors Will Munro and Katie McGeoch are behind the nightmarish events that will leave your heart racing. “TerrorVision – Live Screaming Your Nightmares” will transport you into a terrifying scene as if you’ve stepped through a flickering TV screen, living out your wildest Samara dreams.
With over 140 actors and a sprawling area of 20,000 square feet, the haunted house in NYC is truly a sight to behold. As you enter, you’ll be transported to the set of a TerrorVision Halloween episode, but things quickly take a turn for the terrifying. The screen shatters, and you find yourself cast as the unwitting star of the show, forced to confront three tales of horror. Each story is brought to life in an immersive walk-through experience, complete with gruesome creatures and spectacular special effects that will leave you gasping in fear.
According to Executive Producer Dalton M. Dale, the production has enlisted the expertise of the top-notch makeup and special effects artists in Hollywood. Their task is to metamorphose the actors into spine-chilling creatures every night, leaving the audience in awe.
The upcoming attraction in Times Square sounds like a thrilling experience. The organizers have promised a world filled with snow, wind, giant creatures, and mind-boggling effects that will constantly keep visitors on their toes. However, one may question whether Times Square truly required such an intense addition to its already bustling atmosphere.
Munro and McGeoch, in their statement, emphasized that TerrorVision is not for the faint-hearted and is genuinely scary. The experience is set in the 80s, during the peak of the slasher genre, when movies like The Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Poltergeist were ruling the box office. This year’s show is a tribute to the horror craze of the 80s, and the aim is to transport guests into the movie set. The duo wants their audience to feel like they’ve stepped onto the screen, and the experience is going to leave them stunned.
Last year, the production premiered as “BEDLAM,” the largest haunted house in NYC, at the former Ripley’s Believe it or Not location. It sold over 20,000 tickets and ran for 19 days. If you’re wondering whether it will be the scariest thing you’ll see this year, there’s no doubt about it.
