The family of the woman who was viciously assaulted is searching for a pair from Alabama who rescued her from a blazing house on Monday. The incident occurred in Dickson, Tennessee.
As reports of a house fire in the 1200 block of North Charlotte Street in Dickson came in, first responders quickly arrived at the scene. Tessa, lying in a hospital bed with injuries, recounted the events of Monday night to her mother, Tina Trotter, explaining what had happened.
“I can’t wrap my head around it,” Tina said, still reeling from what had happened. “He promised me he would never do that and then to do it in front of the boys.”
Tessa is currently in recovery at VUMC, but unfortunately, she is now paralyzed from the waist down and has also suffered from severe third-degree burns. Tina firmly believes that her daughter’s survival is attributed to two main reasons – her strong fighting spirit and the heroic actions of two bystanders who happened to be driving by. These two individuals from Alabama were in the vicinity to inspect a Facebook Marketplace item when they noticed the smoke and immediately rushed to the scene. Without hesitation, they bravely entered the burning building and managed to extinguish the flames that were engulfing Tessa.
Tina expressed her gratitude, saying, “You have our heartfelt thanks, and once my family discovers your identity, I will definitely contact you. Your help has been invaluable in ensuring that my loved one is still with us today. God bless you.”
According to reports, Mowel was arrested by law enforcement at the site of the fire, while firefighters were still working to control it. He is now facing several charges, including domestic assault, attempted murder, and aggravated arson. The accused has been taken into custody and has been booked in the Dickson County Jail on a bond of $765,000.
