The Hall County Solicitor General has been accused of committing two dozen charges of theft and false statements, according to recent indictments.
Stephanie Woodard has been indicted on 11 counts of theft and 13 counts of false statements and writings, as announced by Attorney General Chris Carr on Tuesday.
Carr’s office has reported that Woodard has been accused of illegally obtaining funds from Hall County and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia. The funds were allegedly used for personal expenses from July 2018 to September 2022.
According to the indictment, Woodard has been accused of receiving reimbursements for travel expenses that she had already claimed or for trips that were never taken.
Carr emphasized the importance of honesty, ethics, and transparency among those responsible for upholding the law. He stated that any behavior falling short of these standards could potentially undermine the entire system. The act of stealing from taxpayers and then falsifying documents to conceal such theft should not be tolerated under any circumstances. Carr’s Public Integrity and White Collar Crime Unit strives to investigate each case thoroughly, relying solely on the facts and evidence to ensure justice for the citizens of Georgia.
According to the indictment, there are several accusations against her, including falsely claiming a meal at a nearby restaurant as an expense for abuse awareness and misrepresenting a purchase on her P-card at Target as being for a victim.
