Man from Austell passes away after being discovered by his family in the pond located behind their residence.

According to the Austell Police, they received a report about a body found in a pond at a residence located in the 5500 block of Owens Drive.

During an interview with the family of the deceased, 64-year-old Jeffrey Ives was identified by Channel 2 Action News reporter, Courtney Francisco.

Ives was discovered by his family in the water on Sunday morning, but unfortunately, they reported that it was already too late to rescue him.

The Crimes Against Persons Unit of the Cobb County Police Department was called upon by the Austell Police Department to aid in the investigation of Ives’ death. The Persons Unit took custody of the body for further investigation, and it has since been turned over to the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

At present, authorities do not anticipate foul play in connection with the incident, although investigations are still ongoing.

The Ives family affectionately refers to him as a beloved grandfather, devoted father, and loving husband.
