On Sunday, a subway surfing incident in Queens left a 14-year-old boy injured, adding to the growing number of young victims of this hazardous trend.
According to the NYPD, as the southbound 7 train pulled into the 111th Street Station a little before 4:30 p.m., a teenager riding on top of it accidentally hit a beam with his head.
According to the authorities, the young boy was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in a stable condition.

According to officials, more and more teenagers are engaging in subway surfing as they try to imitate the risky behavior that is often shared on popular social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
According to the MTA’s data, the number of reports concerning individuals riding outside of trains, including on top of them, has increased significantly during the first six months of 2023. The figures reveal a total of 450 reported incidents, a significant rise from the 262 cases reported during the same period in 2019.
