Man from Gwinnett County arrested for engaging in inappropriate behavior with children online

A Winder man has been arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office on charges of distributing obscene materials to minors and attempting to engage in inappropriate online contact with a child.

The sheriff’s office reports that David Jones attempted to engage in inappropriate communication with an individual whom he thought was a 14-year-old.

Jones was arrested in Lawrenceville on May 14 while attempting to communicate with the minor he was being investigated for.

He faced multiple charges, including attempting to commit a felony, electronically providing obscene materials to minors, engaging in inappropriate online conversations with a child, possessing drug-related objects, and possessing controlled substances classified as Schedule II and Schedule IV.

Jones, who was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Trafficking and Child Exploitation Unit, is currently in custody with a bond of $1,300, as indicated by jail records.
