Woman in Mississippi arrested for alleged theft of over $1,000 worth of merchandise from store

A woman from Mississippi, aged 51, was apprehended for stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a business located in downtown Oxford.

The Oxford Police Department arrested Karen Borden, a resident of Oxford, on charges of Felony Shoplifting.

Borden faced arrest when officers from the OPD swiftly responded to a report of shoplifting at a business located in the 200 block of North Lamar Boulevard, situated near the Oxford Square.

Upon reaching the establishment, the officers were astounded to find that a significant amount of merchandise had been unlawfully taken from the store. In the state of Mississippi, a shoplifting offense is considered a felony if the stolen goods are estimated to be worth more than $1,000.

Borden appeared before a Municipal Court judge for her first bond hearing, where she was granted a $5,000 bond.
