More than ten years after the discovery of three deceased individuals inside an abandoned vehicle on a Georgia highway, law enforcement officials have apprehended four suspects. One of the individuals now in custody is an assistant principal at a middle school located near Birmingham, Alabama, as reported by CBS affiliate WAKA-TV.
Earlier this month, a 45-year-old man named Keante Harris was indicted by a grand jury on three counts of malice murder. The indictment also charged three other suspects, Kenneth Thompson, Kevin Harris, and Darrell Harris, with three counts each of malice murder. Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen made this statement regarding the indictment.
According to the sheriff, the individuals were enticed to a house on Magnolia Drive in Jonesboro and subsequently coerced inside at gunpoint. Following this, they were compelled into the back seat of a Dodge Charger and transported to Fulton County.
Allen mentioned that the investigation into the murders has been ongoing by the Clayton County Police Department and the district attorney’s office. They have made significant progress and obtained indictments from the grand jury. Last week, the four suspects were apprehended in three different states on fugitive from justice warrants. According to booking records, Harris is currently detained in the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham.
Walter Gonsoulin, superintendent of Jefferson County Schools, has officially confirmed that Harris will be serving as the assistant principal at McAdory Middle School. In a statement to WAKA-TV, Gonsoulin expressed his confidence in Harris’ abilities and dedication to the role.
According to Gonsoulin, we have received information that Mr. Keante Harris was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. We are currently in the process of gathering more details about this situation. However, initial indications suggest that the charges are unrelated to Mr. Harris’ employment with Jefferson County Schools. As per our standard procedure, Mr. Harris has been placed on paid administrative leave. We will continue to follow our district’s policy as more facts emerge.
