Brittney Griner reveals that during her time confined in a Russian prison cell, she found herself grappling with thoughts of suicide on multiple occasions.
In a recent interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts, the WNBA superstar opened up about the unsettling thoughts that crossed her mind when she found herself imprisoned in Russia. The incident occurred in February 2022 when she was detained for carrying vape cartridges in her luggage at a Moscow airport.
During the conversation with Roberts, the 33-year-old revealed that she had considered the option. However, she ultimately decided against it due to concerns about her family not being able to have her body.
“I can’t subject them to that,” she expressed with determination. “I must persevere through this.”
