Attorney Delivers a Devastating Take-Down of Hunter Biden in Court

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, recently experienced a significant setback in court regarding his federal gun case, according to attorney Jonathan Turley.

Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is currently facing three federal gun charges in Delaware. Despite the allegations, he has maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty. These charges stem from accusations that he lied about his drug use on a federal form while trying to buy a handgun back in October 2018.

U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika rejected multiple motions filed by Hunter Biden’s lawyers on Friday. They were attempting to dismiss the gun charges against their client. One of their arguments was that Republicans were selectively prosecuting the president’s son.

“These charges stem from political pressure exerted by President Trump and his MAGA allies, who sought to manipulate the Justice Department into disregarding the law and deviating from its established policies in cases such as this,” expressed Abbe Lowell, attorney for Hunter Biden, following his client’s arraignment in October.”

In a recent filing, David Weiss, the special counsel from the Department of Justice (DOJ) who is prosecuting the case against Hunter Biden, pointed out that the other defendants did not create a memoir where they made numerous statements that served as evidence of their crimes and drew additional attention to their illegal activities.

Hunter Biden published his memoir, “Beautiful Things,” in 2021. The book offers a poignant account of his lifelong battle with alcohol and drug addiction.

In the filing, Weiss strongly refuted Hunter’s arguments in the case, deeming them as “patently false”. According to Turley’s opinion piece on his website, this dismissal by Weiss is seen as a powerful rebuttal to Hunter’s claims.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, from the Biden administration, appointed the special counsel. This appointment comes after the nomination of Garland by former President Donald Trump in 2017 to serve as U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware.

Newsweek contacted Turley and Hunter’s lawyer for comment via email.

Jonathan Turley, a legal analyst and professor at George Washington University Law School, has been a key figure in various impeachment proceedings. With his involvement in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton and both impeachments of former President Donald Trump, Turley has established himself as a prominent voice in the political and legal arena. Notably, he has emerged as a vocal critic of Hunter, expressing his concerns and criticisms throughout Hunter’s legal battles.

Noreika emphasized that the decision to prosecute Hunter Biden was made by the Biden administration. In her ruling on Friday, she noted, “Defendant’s argument essentially suggests that his own father singled him out for being his son, which is illogical given the circumstances of this case.”

There is no evidence to suggest that Congressional Republicans were successful in influencing the Executive Branch, even if they attempted to do so. It is worth noting that the Executive Branch, which prosecuted the Defendant, was and still is led by the Defendant’s father.

Hunter Biden is set to face trial for his gun charges on June 3. Additionally, he is also facing tax evasion charges brought by the DOJ, with the trial scheduled for June 20. Hunter has pleaded not guilty to the tax charges.
