According to a report, Donald Trump’s close allies are pushing for a revamp of anti-racism protections if he is re-elected in November. Instead of focusing on protecting people of color, they aim to prioritize the protection of white people. Axios reports that Trump’s circle wants to change the government’s interpretation of Civil Rights-era legislation to address what they call “anti-white racism.” Moreover, a new Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) would aim to either end or transform anti-racism programs in both the government and the private sector, which currently combat racism benefiting white people. This proposed shake-up would impact policies that have been long-standing as well as those initiated in response to the killing of George Floyd. Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, stated that all staff, offices, and initiatives associated with what they consider to be Biden’s “un-American” policy would be terminated immediately. Cheung emphasized that Trump is determined to eradicate discriminatory programs and racist ideologies throughout the federal government.
