Governor distributes multiple grants

Gov. Kay Ivey has approved grants totaling over $364,000 to fund domestic violence response units in four counties.

The units actively investigate and prosecute cases of domestic violence while offering crucial support to victims.

The Montgomery County Commission has been awarded a grant of $70,730. This grant will be used to support the Violence Against Women Prosecution Unit. In addition to prosecuting cases, this unit also provides victim services and advocacy in domestic violence cases within Montgomery County.

The U.S. Department of Justice has provided funds for these grants, which are being administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
