Jill Biden, the first lady, is set to release a children’s book featuring the White House cat

First Lady Jill Biden is set to release a delightful children’s book in June, showcasing the incredible adventures of the first family’s beloved cat, Willow. The story takes readers on a captivating journey as Willow moves to Washington, D.C., and explores the different rooms within the iconic White House. Along the way, she encounters the dedicated individuals who ensure the seamless functioning of the daily operations.

The delightful children’s book, “Willow the White House Cat,” is a collaboration between author Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrator Kate Berube. This heartwarming story will be published by Paula Wiseman Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing.

In a press release on Tuesday, the first lady announced the forthcoming publication of a book that tells the story of Willow, a lively character who eagerly explores the history of her new home, the ‘People’s House’.

Willow was warmly welcomed by the First Families who came before us, just like Joe and me. They embraced her with love and care, just as they do with all the people who enter this home. Throughout her journey, Willow has made many new friends, offering a unique “cats-eye” perspective of life at America’s most renowned address,” Biden expressed.

The Bidens welcomed Willow into their family as an American tabby domestic short-haired cat. They adopted her from farmer Rick Telesz in Lawrence County, PA. It was the first lady who played a leading role in the decision to bring Willow home, and the cat was named after the first lady’s hometown of Willow Grove, PA.

In 2020, Willow caught Dr. Biden’s attention when she unexpectedly hopped onto the stage and interrupted her campaign remarks. A spokesperson for the first lady shared, “Their immediate connection was evident, and the farm owner recognized that Willow was meant to be with Dr. Biden.”

Biden stands out as the sole first lady who has simultaneously pursued another profession while serving in her role. As a community college professor, she imparts her knowledge and expertise in the field of English. Additionally, she has authored several children’s books, such as “Where the Light Enters,” “Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops,” and “Joey: The Story of Joe Biden.”
