Woman from Virginia claims second $1M lottery jackpot

A Virginia woman struck gold when she won a $1 million jackpot from a scratch-off ticket, only three years after winning a $100,000 lottery prize.

Gayla Guishard of Smithfield was filled with excitement when she purchased her Virginia Millions scratch-off ticket at the Race Way station on Carrollton Boulevard in Isle of Wight County. The moment she scratched off the ticket to reveal the $1 million prize, she couldn’t contain her emotions and caused quite a scene.

Guishard remembered how she let out a scream of surprise and excitement. She recounted, “We all couldn’t contain our excitement and joined in the chorus of screams.”

According to her, the commotion prompted individuals outside the store to quickly enter and inquire about the cause of the disturbance.

Guishard explained that when they were asked about what they said, they responded with silence.

In 2021, Guishard was awarded a $100,000 prize from Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.

The winner remained tight-lipped about her immediate plans for her recent windfall.
