Tentative date set for Hunter Biden trial on felony gun charges, expected to take place week of June 3

Hunter Biden’s trial for felony gun charges has been tentatively scheduled for the week of June 3.

According to court filings, a federal grand jury indicted Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son, in September of last year. The charges were related to his purchase of a firearm in October 2018 while he was a drug user. The indictment, returned by the grand jury in Delaware, included three felony counts. These stemmed from Hunter Biden’s possession of a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver for 11 days, which prosecutors had previously stated he unlawfully possessed.

The prosecutors from special counsel David Weiss’ office anticipate that their case will span approximately four days. On the other hand, Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, mentioned that the defense is likely to present their arguments over a period of two days.

During a telephonic meeting on Wednesday, Judge Maryellen Noreika informed the parties involved that she is currently reviewing multiple motions, including Hunter Biden’s motions to dismiss the case. She stated that she will issue a ruling once she has completed her assessment.

Lowell, however, expressed his belief that the case is unlikely to proceed to trial. He anticipates that the judge will rule in Hunter Biden’s favor on his motion to dismiss. This is based on the existence of a diversion and plea agreement that had already been issued.

Hunter Biden is likely to face charges in late June in a separate trial in a tax case in California. He has pleaded not guilty in both cases and is seeking to have all charges dismissed.
