On March 9, the daughter of former Indiana Sheriff Jamey Noel found herself caught up in the ongoing investigation into corruption in Clark County. This arrest, charge, or investigation marks yet another instance involving a member of the ex-official’s family.
Kasey Noel, a 27-year-old woman, was taken into custody on Friday for allegedly using funds from a local volunteer firefighters association for her personal expenses. As per court records acquired by multiple local news outlets, Kasey Noel is facing charges of theft and tax evasion, with five counts of theft and four counts of tax evasion.
During their investigation, authorities discovered that Noel had accumulated over $108,000 in charges on the credit cards belonging to the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association between 2019 and 2023. These charges consisted of personal expenses like clothing, tanning sessions, food, trips, alcohol, as well as purchases on Netflix and Amazon.
During his tenure on the board of the firefighters association from 2018 to 2023, Kevin Wilkerson incurred personal charges amounting to over $295,000, as reported by the authorities.
Kasey Noel served as an administrative assistant for her father, who was arrested in November and is currently facing 25 felony charges. These charges include theft, ghost employment, and tax fraud. Her father has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
Last week, Misty Noel, the mother of the suspect, was taken into custody and charged with 10 counts of theft and tax fraud. She maintains her innocence and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
On Friday, the police also submitted a petition to reopen the estate of William “Leon” Noel, the brother of Jamey Noel. According to the authorities, Jamey and Kasey Noel allegedly kept over $100,000 from the proceeds of their brother’s property sales following his passing in 2018.
Jamey Noel was responsible for managing his brother’s estate, which consisted of a bank account and two properties, including a primary residence and an additional house.
According to investigators, Kasey Noel purchased Leon Noel’s home in 2019 for a price of $180,000. It was noted that this amount was significantly lower than the actual value of the property. As part of the transaction, Kasey’s father gifted her $36,000 worth of equity in the home. However, it was discovered that this amount was not repaid to the estate.
Jamey Noel wrote two checks for $36,000 to his brother’s children in 2019, but unfortunately, they bounced because there were insufficient funds, as stated in court documents. The children were unaware of this until Noel was charged in November.
Kasey Noel is currently being held in Scott County jail without bond, and her court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
