New Jersey woman loses $30K to scammer who visited her home, police say

Mocobizscene-  According to the authorities, a woman who is 76 years old fell victim to a scam and lost $30,000. She had called the phone number provided in a fraudulent email claiming to be from Microsoft.

The Nutley Police Department reported that a resident of Nutley recently received an email that seemed to be from Microsoft. The email instructed her to contact technical support. Following the instructions, she called the phone number provided in the email. The person she spoke to on the phone then directed her to make several bank withdrawals.

According to officials, the woman went to several banks to withdraw a sum of $30,000. She later handed over the cash to an individual who came to her house on Monday night.

Authorities in New York have arrested Huihua Chen, 49, of Queens, in connection with the scam. It remains unclear what charges he is facing or what specific role he played in the fraudulent scheme. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover any potential accomplices involved.

The victim received another call on Tuesday from the same person, who tried to collect an additional $15,000, according to the police.
