Mocobizscene – On Monday, February 26, Michael McDermott, a 30-year-old resident of Troy in Rensselaer County, was sentenced to 2 ½ years in Albany federal court.
It happened months after he formally admitted to breaking into the Glenmont Walmart store when it was closed overnight. Once inside, he broke a glass display case and took five shotguns and one rifle.
McDermott further admitted that when employees chased him into the woods, he aimed a rifle at them. There were no injuries among the staff.
In October 2023, he pleaded guilty to stealing weapons from a federally licensed dealer.
McDermott is part of the Albany-based Suicide Squad motorcycle gang.
In addition to his prison sentence, he received three years of release and was prohibited from contacting other gang members.
