City councilman Benjamin Yu of Lake Forest arrested for alleged domestic violence

Mocobizscene-  Lake Forest City Councilmember Benjamin Yu was taken into custody earlier this week on suspicion of domestic violence. Yu, who is 41 years old, was taken into custody on Monday following a dispatch to the 100 block of Freemont Street, as stated by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. When they arrived, they discovered a woman with a head contusion.

During their investigation, the deputies were able to identify Yu as the primary suspect in the case. Afterward, Yu voluntarily surrendered himself and was promptly taken into custody on charges of domestic violence and violating a restraining order.

He has been released from custody. The exact nature of Yu’s relationship with the victim remains unknown, as no further details have been disclosed. In July 2023, Yu was charged with corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and false imprisonment, marking the second time his name has been linked to domestic violence.

In October 2021, he faced legal trouble when he was apprehended for driving under the influence. The incident resulted in him being charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI.
