Newark PD Seeks Suspect Who Crashed into Police Car during GSP Pursuit

Mocobizscene- At 11:58 a.m., the police in Newark received a report regarding the sighting of a black Honda Odyssey, which was wanted in connection with a felony. The vehicle was observed in the 200 block of 21st Street in Irvington, according to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

According to Fragé, the pursuit onto the Garden State Parkway North was initiated by the driver of the wanted vehicle. Fragé stated that the suspect then reversed the vehicle and collided with the Newark police vehicle. Fragé further added that the suspect subsequently abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot across the parkway.

A police detective was taken to University Hospital after he complained of pain, Fragé reported. The incident is still being investigated, according to Fragé.
