Topanga Canyon under evacuation warning due to mudslide risk

Some residents in Topanga Canyon have been issued an evacuation warning as Southern California braces for the possibility of mud and debris flows caused by the approaching wet weather.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to residents in Zone 4, located along Santa Maria Road, just north of Topanga Canyon Boulevard near the Owen Fire burn scar.

The warning will take effect at 9 p.m. on Sunday evening and will remain in place until at least 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Residents living along Soledad Canyon Road, east of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, near the Agua Fire burn scar, should also take heed of another warning.

“Make sure you are prepared for potential evacuations,” deputies advised. “Bring together your loved ones, pets, and essential supplies.”

Residents should stay updated on the local weather and news to stay informed about the latest developments. It is important to follow emergency warnings provided on the Los Angeles County emergency website.
