Mocobizscene- Demetria Antwonette Spencer, a 25-year-old mother from Miami, Florida, was arrested after her 6-year-old son called the Miami-Dade Police Department to report that his mother had left him and his 2-year-old brother alone at home.
At around 9 p.m. on Wednesday (January 3rd), a 6-year-old boy from Spencer’s family made a distress call to 9-1-1, informing the operator that his mother had left him and his younger brother alone in their residence near Miami Shores. Responding swiftly, police officers arrived at the scene located in the 200 block of Northwest 84th Street, only to discover the boys inside a home that was described as “very dirty”.
Florida Mother Arrested After Her 6-Year-Old Tests Positive for Cocaine, Marijuana, and Benzos
According to police, attempts were made to contact Spencer using the phone number provided by the 6-year-old boy, but unfortunately, she did not answer. Despite searching the area, officers were unable to locate her. It took approximately four hours for a Florida Department of Children and Families investigator to arrive at the home and retrieve the children. It was not until 1:30 a.m. on Thursday that officials from Florida DCF finally arrived at the scene.
During that time, officials confirmed that Spencer had not yet arrived. According to the report, it stated that Spencer had neglected to fulfill her duty of providing and safeguarding her sons, failing to provide the necessary care, supervision, and services required for their physical and mental well-being.
Officers located Spencer the next day at around 2:20 p.m. and proceeded to arrest her. The charges against the Florida mother included two counts of child neglect without causing great bodily harm.
