Mocobizscene- According to police sources on Sunday, a group of migrant workers with sticky fingers broke into Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan and attempted to take a stash of luxury sunglasses worth $5,300 from Versace, Dior, and Prada. However, all but one of them managed to flee.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, some 15 asylum seekers stormed the upscale Midtown store, grabbing more than a dozen pairs of the pricier sunglasses before running out of there, according to reports. Sources claim that one of the robbers was apprehended by a vigilant police officer on paid detail at the business, while the others fled.
Charges against 23-year-old Steven Matos included robbery, unlawful possession of stolen items, possessing burglary tools, and resisting arrest. Ten sets of Versace eyewear, two Prada pairs, and one Christian Dior pair were found by the police.
According to sources, it’s unclear right now if the other members of the mob managed to escape with more goods.The city presently houses and feeds up to 70,000 migrants. According to city officials, these are some of the 162,000 people who have poured into the five boroughs from the US border since the spring of 2022.
In a concerning trend that has occurred recently, robbery gangs around the nation have overrun retailers in grab-and-run thefts that they are unable to stop.
Over a hundred miscreants broke into a California bakery last week, destroying the establishment before fleeing and leaving the proprietor in a state of shock.
