Alabama (mocobizscene) – An 18-wheeler and three other vehicles were involved in a tragic interstate crash in Alabama, resulting in the loss of two lives.
A multi-vehicle crash took place on Friday, December 1st, at around 9:37 a.m., as stated in a news release by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Kevin T. Olson, 72, and Lilly L. Olson, 73, from Princeton, Illinois, tragically lost their lives in a devastating collision. The incident occurred when Kevin Olson, behind the wheel of a 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck, collided head-on with a 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Alfred L. Giles, 62, from Mobile.
The 2024 Freightliner collided with the 2021 Genesis G90, driven by Leander Robinson, 68, of Greenville, before crashing into the 2019 Ford F-150 from the rear end.
The 2024 Freightliner veered across the median and collided head-on with the 2019 Ford F-150.
Steven L. Olbert, a 75-year-old resident of Oostburg, Wis., was driving the 2022 Ford F-150 when it collided with the 2019 Ford F-150 from behind.
The crash involved four vehicles: the 2019 Ford F-150, 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer, 2021 Genesis G90, and the 2022 Ford F-150.
Kevin and Lilly Olson were declared dead at the scene.
The crash happened on Interstate 65, specifically near the 197 mile marker, which is about three miles south of Verbena in Autauga County.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are diligently working on gathering further information.
